The Axetris Team visits Renergia – the largest waste incineration facility in Central Switzerland
The Axetris team recently visited Renergia - the largest waste incinerator in Central Switzerland. During the visit, the team gained insights into the incineration process, and discussed gas analysis needs for continuous emissions monitoring (CEM) at waste incinerators. The visit was part of the bi-annual Axetris international sales meeting.
Regulators worldwide dictate strict emission limits for many atmospheric pollutants, including HCl (Hydrochloric Acid) and NH3 (Ammonia). These emission limits require the emitting industries – e.g. waste incinerators – to monitor and report stack emissions and to ensure that steps are taken to guarantee that emissions fall below the specified limits. Axetris provides laser gas detection modules, which are based on Tunable Diode Laser Spectroscopy (TDLS), for integration by gas analyzer OEMs into continuous emissions monitoring systems (CEMS).
Renergia is the modern waste incineration facility inaugurated in early 2015 in Lucerne, Switzerland. Yearly, approximately 200,000 tons of household and industrial waste will be incinerated here. The waste incinerator supplies heat and electricity to the nearby industries and public buildings, and contributes to the reduction of 90,000 tons of CO2 annually. The waste incinerator uses a number of emission abatement measures in order to limit emissions to levels which are considerably below regulated emission limits.
