2019 Swiss Confederate Wrestling and Alpine Festival Kick-off
The Swiss confederate wrestling and alpine festival 2019 in Zug (ESAF) will be taking place August 23-25, 2019, but such a big Swiss sporting event has been casting its shadow long before. The starting signal was fired on June 11, 2018 at Leister AG and at the Küchlerhof farm nearby because such an important event requires lots of preparations.
Participants included Paul Bachmann, Organizing Committee (OC) of ESAF, sponsor association ESAF 2019 Zug, Heinz Tännler, member of the government and financial director of Canton Zug and OC president, Thomas Huwyler, managing director of ESAF, Bruno von Wyl, CTO and member of the group management of Leister AG, Beat Mettler, Group CEO Leister AG and farmer Christof Küchler, his daughter Jasmin Küchler, young breeder and of course the beautiful Bombay.
You might be wondering, "Who is Bombay?" Bombay is a magnificent breeding cow and the pride and joy of Jasmin Küchler. Read what Leister has in common with Schwingen, the swiss form of wrestling and what role Bombay is playing in it in our news blog LEISTER Stories.
Swiss wrestling and Leister - Leister and Swiss wrestling
For those who are unfamiliar, Swiss wrestling and Leister belong together like Switzerland and chocolate. Without Swiss wrestling, Karl Leister would not have landed in Kägiswil at the time. On his way back from Graubünden, Karl was looking for a company location in Switzerland and his route led him through Lucerne, the heart of Switzerland. During his travel over the Brünig Pass he first found himself in a traffic jam caused by the Brünigschwinget, one of the local Swiss wrestling festivals and later into the enthusiastic crowd of people.
Swiss wrestling has been a fascination of his ever since and enthused his wife Christiane a few years later. Since then, Leister and Swiss wrestling have been connected and Leister has been a sponsor of the ESAF for decades. We are proud to support this Swiss national sport financially and personally.

Visit to Leister AG
Now that you know what Swiss wrestling is, it's important to know what we do here at Leister. You're likely to come into daily contact with products manufactured with Leister applications. Whether it's a tube of toothpaste, welded with Leister hot air, the plastic coating on the cork of a wine bottle, which keeps tight thanks to Leister hot air, or the fish pond, whose bottom foil does not let water out because it was welded using Leister plastic welding. While there are many more examples to give, we'll stay focused on Swiss wrestling.
Because the Zug delegation wanted to know what we are doing here at Leister, Bruno von Wyl invited the three gentlemen to Leister's headquarters in Kägiswil and presented various business units in a presentation.

Visiting Bombay at the Küchlerhof
Afterwards, the delegation from Zug wanted to visit the beautiful Bombay at the Küchlerhof farm. Bombay is a breeding cow handed over to the third-place wrestler as a Leister donation at the ESAF 2019 as a so-called live price. Bombay got its name from General Manager, Arun Kumar, from Leister India. It's been deemed a good omen, because cows are holy in India.
The Küchler farm is located next to the runway and only a five-minute walk from Leister. Young breeder Jasmin Küchler and her father Christof Küchler were already looking forward to welcoming their guests. Bombay, freshly styled by Jasmin Küchler, waited patiently in the straw, let herself be stroked and showed her best side.

A special honor for Jasmin Küchler and for Bombay
Jasmin Küchler is happy about the special honor and privilege of presenting Bombay as a prize for the third podium place. Normally, the cattle chosen for the second and third place, as well as the bull for the king of Swiss wrestling must come from the canton where the Swiss wrestling festival takes place. Those responsible for ESAF in Zug have kindly turned a blind eye to Bombay, which comes from the canton of Obwalden.

Heinz Tännler expressed his gratitude stating, "I learned a lot today and I am impressed by the high-tech products and the international presence of Leister. Bombay is a magnificent, sporty, and elegant cow that meets all the criteria for the ESAF in Zug. We are looking forward to seeing the cow in the arena in Zug next year."
Bruno von Wyl thanked the guests from Zug for their visit, "I am very happy that today you could get an idea of the various Leister branches of business and your daily points of contact with Leister. I have to say that I am very proud that our young breeder Jasmin Küchler breeds such magnificent cows as Bombay here in the heart of Switzerland in the idyllic Kägiswil".
Finally, he invited the guests to visit the Leister chalet in Kägiswil. The chalet originally comes from Oberägeri (Canton Zug). At that time, it was dismantled, restored, and rebuilt in Kägiswil. Today, the historic rooms of the chalet are used by Leister employees as meeting rooms.
Bruno von Wyl is already looking forward to the next event named "One year before the festival", on August 25, 2018 in Zug. We will inform you on LEISTER Stories and of course we'll visit our Bombay at the Küchlerhof farm, because we have taken her to heart.
