LEISTER, a promising debut at ForumPiscine, the swimming pool trade show
Leister was able to provide fantastic solutions at the swimming pool and spas trade show in Bologna this February.
The 11th edition of the ForumPiscine, Italy's most important event dedicated to the swimming pool and spa sector, ended in Bologna with a three-day international Congress and Expo. The 2019 edition hosted 150 exhibitors and over 7,500 visitors. This event is a point of reference for designers and installers, that were not only attracted by the innovative proposals of pool manufacturers, but also by the solutions that installers facilitated. Among these exhibitors was Leister Technologies Italia, the Italian subsidiary of the Swiss multinational company and leader in plastic welding tools and equipment, Leister.
Paolo Possa, General Manager of Leister Technologies Italia, shared his experience at the ForumPiscine.
Interviewer: This was a new expo for you: what led you to participate in the show this year?
Paolo Possa: Participating in ForumPiscine was a logical decision for us. We provide many solutions for individuals who specialize in swimming pool installations, so we believed it was important for us to be present at an expo with many installers in attendance. Thanks to the organizations hard work, we were finally able to establish our presence at the show under the right circumstances. The event was an excellent opportunity to introduce swimming pool designers and installers to our full range of tools and equipment for welding waterproof membranes.
Interviewer: Which solutions did you present, and which produced the most interest?
Paolo Possa: We couldn't help but showcase the TRIAC, LEISTER's most versatile and popular hot-air hand tool. The popular tool is available in two versions: TRIAC ST with temperature and air flow management by potentiometer, and TRIAC AT with electronic display and closed-loop management of welding parameters. The TRIACs are light, ergonomic and easy to clean.
In addition, it was great to hear directly from our core users about the quality of this tool and its "longevity." If a customer's TRIAC has been used for 8-10 hours a day, it's always a pleasure to see the tool still fully operational 10-15 years later. The TRIAC isn't the only Leister tool with a long life-span, which is why many customers are satisfied with our various product offerings.
HOT JET is the smaller, less known hot-air hand tool by Leister and still an effective tool for pool installers. It's small and lightweight size (1.3 lbs. including power cord and handle) makes it the ideal partner for welding/heating in tight spaces like steps or canals. However, the compact HOT JET S is only able to heat up to 650°, thus is not able to perform at the same level as the TRIACs in certain situations.
The combination of the DIODE welding tool with MINOR BLOWER was also interesting due to the comfort of the handle and the lightness of the DIODE. After an intense day's work, the ergonomics of the DIODE and MINOR combination stand out the most.
Automatic welding machines are also great alternatives for installing and maintaining swimming pools. VARIMAT and UNIROOF are certainly the most useful of them all; they're usually used for roofs, but they're also suitable for waterproofing large swimming pools.
Other automatic welding machines like VARIANT and UNIPLAN are great alternatives and mostly used by those who make pool covers.
VARIANT operates with both precision and speed and can weld at speeds up to 59 feet per minute. With its intuitive operation, it has long been used for protective covers for commercial vehicles, but of course it is also perfect for pool covers. The electronic e-Drive makes welding very easy thanks to the intuitive display, enabling you to set your welding parameters. Guides and rollers lead the belt under the pressure roller, keeping it taut to the last inch.
The compact and lightweight UNIPLAN also allows for perfect, repeatable welds for pool covers. The end user can maintain welds at high speeds thanks to the electronic control of the welding parameters.
In addition to the automatic welding machines, we presented a selection from the wide range of LEISTER nozzles and accessories, naturally choosing the ideal solutions for specific applications in the swimming pool and spa sector.
Interviewer: What impressions did you get from this debut?
Paolo Possa: As "newcomers" to an event in this sector, we can't compare it with previous years, but we had a very good feeling overall: there were definitely many installers who came to our booth to find out the latest news and to say hello. We were impressed by the aptitude of the people we met, the passion with which they talk about their work and the fact that some LEISTER tools are able to lend a big hand on the job site. The competence and availability of our technical and commercial staff at the show did the rest, facilitating the meeting between the needs of the public and the solutions we proposed. As proof of our satisfaction, we can anticipate that the next appointment with professionals in the sector will be at next year's Swimming Pools Forum.
