Mainstream and sidestream capnography with Axetris Infrared Sources
Axetris Infrared Sources are often used for mainstream and sidestream capnography.
Capnography – the measurement of exhaled CO2 (End-Tidal CO2, or EtCO2) from a patient – often relies on Non-Dispersive Infrared (NDIR) detection systems.
Mainstream capnographs measure exhaled CO2 directly in the airway by means of an airway adapter. Sidestream capnographs, on the other hand, measure CO2 by extracting an air sample through a bedside monitor where the CO2 measurement takes place.
Both techniques are widely used today, and offer advantages based on the specific medical procedure. Irrespective of the capnography technique, Axetris Infrared Sources deliver concrete advantages for both capnography techniques.
