New Leister LHS 210/410 Air Heaters

When hot air is required, customers within various industries all over the world have been relying on Leister’s powerful, robust and reliable air heaters for decades. This brings much joy to us (and the environment) since hot air is more environmentally friendly than gas. Unlike the temperature of gas flames, the temperature of hot air can be individually adjusted for different applications. This is another reason why hot air is continuing to replace gas in industrial applications.

Which Applications Require Hot Air?

You might be wondering what applications and industries hot air is used in. Since there are so many applications that hot air is used in, we'll limit ourselves to a few that may sound familiar:

• Shrinking bottle labels (see video)
• Roasting coffee and drying fruit
• Sealing corks and caps on wine bottles with a protective, plastic cap (see video)
• Making lipsticks shine
• Sterilizing food packaging: Plastic cups and containers are sterilized before filling. For example, for yogurt, cream cheese, pasta sauce, etc.
• Drying glass bottles after cleaning or after filling
• Bonding plastic tubes after filling with toothpaste, for example
• Bonding milk and orange juice cartons, for example.
• Igniting wood chip and pellet heating systems

Like I mentioned, we could go on and on about the number of applications that require hot air. Our conclusion: Industrial applications rely on Leister’s hot air from morning until night and around the globe.

New Air heaters and Tubular Air Heaters: LHS 210 and LHS 410

In this article, however, the new LHS 210 SF/LHS 410 SF, LHS 210 SF-R/LHS 410 SF-R air heaters and the new LHS 210 DF/LHS 410 DF/LHS 210 DF-R/LHS 410 DF-R tubular air heaters take the lead.

Air heater LHS 210 SF and LHS 410 SF with One Flange

The LHS 210 SF and LHS 410 SF air heaters have a flange on the inlet side ("SF" stands for "Single Flange") and a tube on the outlet side. In addition to their particularly small design, one of their distinguishing features is that they are compatible with many different nozzles from Leister.

For example, the air flow can be extended with a wide slot nozzle or distributed over a larger area. Various shrinking applications within the packaging industry are possible with a screen reflector nozzle.

The LHS 410 SF air heaters differ from the LHS 210 SF due to their higher air volume, which they achieve due to their larger diameter. The LHS 410 has a tube diameter of 50 mm (2 in.) compared to 36.5 mm (1.44 in.) on the LHS 210.

The "R" in the designation of the LHS 210 SF-R and LHS 410 SF-R air heaters stands for "Recirculation.” These air heaters are designed for industrial processes where hot air recirculation is required. Due to their flanged design, they are also compatible with numerous nozzles from Leister and are suitable for countless industrial applications.

In addition, hot air recirculation (or hot air recycling) helps save on energy costs.

LHS 210 DF and LHS 410 DF Double Flanged Tubular Air Heaters

The LHS 210 DF and LHS 410 DF tubular air heaters: The "DF" stands for "Double Flange,” making them double flange tubular air heaters. The double flange makes these two tubular air heaters suitable for installation in industrial piping systems. The double-flanged tubular air heaters are frequently used in furnaces for heat curing processes.

Like the single flange air heaters, the LHS 210 DF-R and LHS 410 DF-R double flange tubular air heaters can also recycle hot air. The double flange makes them suitable for installation in piping systems and the LHS 410 DF-R is equipped to handle larger air volumes.

In addition, the LHS 210 DF-R and LHS 410 DF-R tubular air heaters are equipped with an extension on the housing connection. The ceramic inside this extension ensures that the electrical connection on the tubular air heaters is sealed off and protected from high temperatures or backflowing hot air.

These tubular air heaters are also suitable for hot air recirculation/hot air recycling, which saves energy and money.

What Distinguishes the LHS 210 and LHS 410 from the Competition?

As mentioned at the beginning, the LHS 210 and LHS 410 air heaters have a particularly compact design and are ideally suited for installation in industrial plants with limited space. Connecting to the power supply is easy due to the well thought-out design.

In addition, the housing connection on the air heaters is located outside the air flow, which has two advantages: The air flows through the air heaters unhindered with hardly any loss in pressure. Additionally, the housing connection is protected against overheating, allowing air inlet temperatures up to 350°C/662 °F.
