In 2002, Luis Cisneros, an innovative farmer and cattle breeder in Mexico, was facing an exciting challenge: He wanted to find an efficient water storage solution for his business. His original plan was to build a cistern made of bricks and concrete, but then he heard about a plastic material called geomembrane, which quickly piqued his interest. After a successful project using a geomembrane, Cisneros recognized the great potential of this technology and began to learn everything he could about materials, tools and installation techniques.
The beginning of Membranas Los Volcanes
The first step was to find a supplier for welding machines. Cisneros turned to LDM, the Leister sales partner in Mexico. With the first Leister appliances and a small team, he began to build up his own company. He embarked upon his first projects in a rented warehouse. His company, Membranas Los Volcanes, grew rapidly and expanded into the states of Nayarit and Veracruz. In just a short time, he was able to lay an impressive 58,000 square meters of membrane in a single reservoir. From storage tanks with a capacity of up to one million liters to fish breeding ponds and shrimp farms, the company offers an extensive range of solutions.
