Design Engineer

Swiss certified design engineers develop individual parts and assemblies of machines, appliances and everyday products with 3D software. You carry out whole projects or partial projects. Ordering parts, creating parts lists and compiling operating instructions is part of the responsibility.

What Will You Learn about Being a Design Engineer with Us?

During your design engineer training, you will work alongside other specialists and design and develop individual components and assemblies for devices and machines. You will work on the computer to create documents relating to manufacturing, fitting, testing, and production processes for operations and advertising.

Prerequisites

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Satisfactory/good grades in mathematics
  • Logical thinking
  • An interest in math, physics and geometry
  • Good spatial awareness
  • Attention to detail and a strong work ethic
  • Good computer skills

Training Duration

The basic training as a design engineer takes four years and finishes with a Swiss Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training.

Your four-year training program will be adapted in line with your school schedule so that you are able to combine the theoretical and practical elements of the course. At the end of your studies, you will be in an ideal position to successfully enter the job market thanks to the skills you have learned during your training.
